Mixing and Dissolving

This week, P5/6 have been learning about how different substances react when they are mixed together.   We investigated what substances dissolve in water and kept some notes of our observations.  We made a guess at how many teaspoons of sugar could dissolve in water and were very surprised to find out how much is possible!  We added a lot of sugar before the water became saturated and could not dissolve any more.  Finally, we mixed some substances together to see what a chemical reaction looks like!  Have a look and see what happened when we mixed a teaspoon of bicarbonate of soda, with a drop of washing up liquid and 50ml of vinegar...
